iTunes Music Store Finally Drops DRM, Adds New Prices

After years of fits, starts, threats and ultimatums Steve Jobs and three major labels have come to terms on a deal that will immediately make music available on iTunes without the digital rights management that limits music playback to Apple products, and at three price levels instead of the “any song for 99 cents” model the store implemented on day one. But no news on the Mac mini, no iPhone nano, heck, no memory upgrades to the existing iPhone or iPod touch at all, and Steve Jobs was not released from his frozen carbonite storage for a token appearance.
